My latest :)
SELF PORTRAIT MOVIE!!!
Since I turned 22, I’ve attempted to take a picture of myself everyday. Attempt is the key word. There’s 619 photos here…most of which I’ve taken at a stop light on the way to work. I take them in the car because I’ve conditioned myself to remember when I’m at a certain spot every morning.
In the beginning I would sometimes take the pictures in my apartment or out and about. Eventually I narrowed it down to a more neutral pose and face and just in my car.
It’s fun and poignant to watch because I can remember exactly where I was at certain points in time just based on my clothes/hair/makeup/look on my face/red allergy eyes/red late night eyes/a black eye (in the beginning)/different apartments, etc. I think the biggest lesson learned is there is a time and place for lip liner and plumping lip gloss…never. :)
I was hoping to put this together when I was 30 but got restless. Hell, it’s been over 5 years at this point and I thought I could start here. I actually took the last picture here today. I have no plans on stopping. It’s just too damn fun…
oh, and the music is Ruben Blades’ “Buscando Guayaba.”
Enjoy!
Working away…doing some nautical / pirate themed linocuts.
For the past few months I’ve been working away a series of linocuts for a joint show with my dad. He’s an amazing oil painter and paints scenes from his native Panama. In fact, you should check out his work…
I, on the other hand, am from the Valley…not quite as exotic, so I decided to create linoleum block cuts based on the cities where I’ve been. 17 linocuts later I was done and we had a great show at Gale’s Restaurant in Pasadena.
We had a great turn out and a very supportive group on people! Thanks to Jody http://jodyabbott.tumblr.com/ and Heather www.heatherkincaid.com for taking great pictures as well! Eventually I’ll be putting these prints (unframed) up on Etsy to share with you all.
Enjoy!
